As you can see, I have no idea what happens in Star Wars: The Old Republic, as you probably cannot simply go and smite Wookies. My ignorance comes, of course, because currently the MMO is super stingy and wants you to pay to play the game. THE GALL! Luckily, in just a short while you and I will be able to play the game for free! Watch out, Wookies!
How will the tasty freeness of The Old Republic work out? Let’s check the FAQ:
With the Free-to-Play option, no subscription will be required! You will be able to download and play Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ all the way up to level 50 for free, with gameplay restrictions that limit access to advanced features and group content. However, we will be offering the option to purchase services, items, and content to customize the gameplay experience. These purchases will be made available via the new Cartel Market and will allow you to choose the way that you want to enjoy the game.
Fairly standard stuff it seems. You basically have limited access to everything but leveling, which is still more than most free-to-play MMOs that limit you to ten levels and then try to reach for your wallet. You will have full access to Story Content (the leveling), but Character Creation Choices, Warzones, Flashpoints, Space Missions, Travel Features, and the Galactic Trade Network all have limited access. If you wanted to do Operations, you will have NO ACCESS so just get that out of your mind right now.
