“Not this again,” was my first thought when seeing this trailer for Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs. If you have ever been chased by an invisible monster while hopping from floating barrel to floating barrel (i.e. played Amnesia: The Dark Descent), then you have a good idea of why this game will be scary as balls.

I have read a few forum posts wondering if the game is set in exactly the same world as the first Amnesia, and it looks like that is not the case. This one is all about fever dreams and Mexico, two things that go hand in hand even today!

This is what we know about the story:

The year is 1899. Wealthy industrialist Oswald Mandus has returned home from a disastrous expedition to Mexico, which has ended in tragedy. Wracked by fever, haunted by dreams of a dark machine, he recovers consciousness in his own bed, with no idea of how much time has passed since his last memory. As he struggles to his feet, somewhere beneath him, an engine splutters, coughs, roars into life…

Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs will be available later this year.
