Nintendo should probably not ship games themselves
by Garret in Gaming News on April 13, 2012

There might be this little company called Nintendo that has created some of the most beloved games of all time. They have been doing it for nearly thirty years on the video game front and another 70+ beyond that. How is it then, that this massive company has no real great way to actually sell a game online? This has become very evident in the case of “Consumers vs. Nintendo: when the people pressured a corporation into releasing a game it didn’t want to.”

Video Games Live: When Musicians Play Video Game Music
by Garret in Gaming News on April 10, 2012
It has been an interesting couple of weeks for video games in the Washington DC area. Just last month an exhibit opened up about the art of video games discussing the visual and historical aspects of gaming, and just this past weekend, touring show Video Games Live came to perform some music from both well known and relatively obscure titles. So how was the show?

Nintendorks Radio Episode 75: The Music Episode
by Garret in Gaming News on April 8, 2012
It’s happened once again. We spoke into some microphones, and by the power of Greyskull, our voices were recorded and shared on the internet among the masses. This week we think about games that need to be remade and talk about Video Games Live.

The Art of Video Games
by Garret in Gaming News on March 24, 2012

Late last year when this exhibit was announced, it was almost as if there was a collective sigh among video game nerds to the tune of, “FINALLY. Validation.” Their hobby of choice that had taken up so much of their time would be recognized for the contributions it had made to culture and society. Or something like that. Last week the Art of Video Games opened to the public. Did it turn out to be as awesome as we had hoped?

Mass Effect 3 affecting you massively today
by Garret in Gaming News on March 6, 2012
Well, folks, today is the day if you are one of those crazy people that don’t want all organic life in the galaxy to die by the hands of some super space jerks. If you don’t mind that life as you know it will cease to exist unless a scrappy group of space do-gooders stops it, well then you can just skip this post.

Mario plus Portal equals YESGIVEMETHISNOW
by Garret in Games, Gaming News on March 4, 2012
Having not been in the loop at all on this one, hearing today that indie developer Stabyourself (really, that’s the name) came out of nowhere to release a Mario and Portal mashup called MariO made me lift an eyebrow. “Who are these people, and what kind of crazy virus to they want me to download?” I thought. Well, it turns out “these people” are a couple of dudes from some place called “Europe,” and the “crazy virus” is fun. FUN.

Reminder: Mass Effect 3 comes out next week
by Garret in Gaming News on February 29, 2012
For the third and maybe final time, Commander Shepard comes back to save the whole galaxy from evil things that no other person, Krogan, or Salarian could do. This time, however, the fight has come to Earth, and according to this trailer, no one will be able to play in the sunflowers any more. ‘Tis a shame. The game launches next week on 3/6/12. Isn’t that nifty?
In other news, next year is going to be a bitch for creative dates for game launches. Last year we had 11/11/11, this year 3/6/12. “13″ does not lend itself to fun number coincidences, unless we finally instate the month of Smarch.
