After being “leaked”/announced a few weeks ago (with tons of commercials suddenly showing up on TV afterwards), we haven’t seen much of Assassin’s Creed IV. We know that you are totally a pirate in the Caribbean, but the video released today shows us a bit of gameplay.

For this go around with the ol’ hidden blades, the game will be set in 1715, and our assassin bears the last name of Kenway, which should be familiar to most who have been keeping up with the globetrotting Assassin’s Creed story.

Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag tells the epic and gritty story of Edward Kenway, a Pirate trained by Assassins. In this gameplay World Premiere, set your eyes on some of the exotic cities and tropical jungles that were found within the Golden Age of Piracy. Stand tall and proud alongside legendary names such as Blackbeard or Calico Jack, and defy the rules to become the most feared pirate in the Caribbean.

In the video we see a few new things that we can assume will be playable sections. The biggest addition looks like there will be a deep sea – or as deep as a human could go – diving component, with a couple of scenes appearing underwater among shark and other reef animals. Lush jungles and port towns also make an appearance. Let’s hope there is at least one Guybrush Threepwood joke somewhere in this game. I mean, come on, guys.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will be available October 29th for all major consoles and PC.
