metal gear solid ground zeroes
Today we were supposed to see a live showing of MGS: Ground Zeroes during a panel at PAX, but the powers that be decided to not let that happen. Never fear, the rest of the internet has our back, and the portion that we wanted to see in motion is now available. The video here seems to be the same thing that was shown to press a couple of days ago, but that is quite alright because it is the first time we get to see it!

Vague descriptions of things on a military base from a bad guy with highly stylized camera shots and Snake entering all alone to do some sneaking. Oh Metal Gear, how I have missed thee. I just wonder how they were able to get the rights to use that old Resident Evil zombie in this game.

A couple of days ago I might have been under the impressing that this game will be a next gen only affair, but if the ending of this video is to be believed we will be able to play this game on our PS3s and Xbox 360s at some point. Very interesting. This video surely was run on a PC because it is pretty sexy, but it will be really interesting to see how far they have come since MGS4 since it still looks pretty amazing.

There has been some speculation as to who exactly the kid in the cage is, but considering -MAYBE SPOILER WATCH OUT- that you seemingly are playing as Naked Snake, the kid might be Solid Snake as a result of the Les Enfants Terribles event. If that is the case then it will be pretty cool.

Notice, too, how there currently is no number associated with the game so it is not MGS5, and that has been confirmed from the source:

So there you go. This is what we can start to look forward to for this new title in the series. What is your take?

Update: Four minutes of gameplay footage has been jumping around the internet this morning that basically starts from the end of the trailer above. Here you’ll see Snake do some creepin’, drive a jeep, ride a helo, AND shine a flashlight around in an area that a guard was just spotlighting without being caught or seen. That Snake is a master.
